TSA Alaska prepares for busiest summer travel season on record
TSA Alaska is getting ready for what they say could be the busiest summer travel season on record.
TSA at Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport predicts that the summer of 2019 will be the busiest on record with an average increase of six percent in the number of travelers who will depart ANC between Memorial Day and Labor Day.
According to a press release from TSA, they anticipate to screen an average of 50,000 passengers departing a week, and that number will increase to 80,000 a week during peak summer travel period, mid-July through mid-August.
To help travelers plan ahead, TSA advises that the busiest days of the week at security checkpoints are Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. They also advise people to arrive at the airport two hours prior to departure time.
