The sun set on Utqiaġvik early Sunday morning — the last time the northernmost city in the United States will see a sunset for nearly three months.
The last sunset fell below Utqiaġvik's horizon at 2 a.m. Sunday, and 45 minutes later, the sun rose once again.

, the next sunset won't occur in Utqiaġvik until August 1, 2020 at 2:17 a.m., when sun will stay below the horizon for just 33 minutes.
On August 2, Utqiaġvik will see a daylight loss of 41 minutes and 41 seconds.
Between Monday and August 1, Utqiaġvik will see 81 days — that's 1,944 hours — of uninterrupted daylight.
