The tale of 'Togo' and the Alaska Serum Run
February 2nd marks the 95th anniversary of the Alaska Serum Run.
A new Disney+ movie tells the tale of "Togo."
Around this time 95 years ago, the city of Nome was battling the diphtheria outbreak.
On January 27, 1925, the first dog team left Nenana en route to Nome in the relay of serum to fight the deadly outbreak.
All these years later, the lore lives on in books like "race against death" the animated movie “Balto” and just in the last year both the “Great Alaskan race” and “Togo” commemorated the story of the serum run.
