Police are saying a vehicle traveling northbound on the Seward highway collided with another vehicle when turning into the southbound lane.

They say that decision caused the multiple vehicle accident.

APD say there are several injuries with at least one classed as life threatening. Drivers are told they should expect delays for several more hours as tow trucks continue to clear the highway.

Police say the initial head on collision is still under investigation.

Anchorage Police say all lanes of the Seward Highway are now open but drivers should expect delays as the clean-up continues.
