A multi-agency rescue was coordinated near Juneau Friday evening.
At 7:15 p.m., two women contacted Alaska State Troopers to report that they were stuck on steep terrain while returning from the ice caves on the West Glacier Trail northwest of Juneau.
Capital City Fire Rescue and US Forest Service Law Enforcement responded with jet boats and provided transportation for a Juneau Mountain Rescue hasty team to the scene.
At about 9:45 p.m., the team reached the women and helped them down to Mendenhall Lake with ropes.
The women said they were cold and tired, but not injured.
