ANCHORAGE: How to help beyond #GivingTuesday

If you're interested in helping the community, whether it's for #GivingTuesday or your own sense of giving back, there are a number of ways to give help, or even to find out where to give help.

The United Way of Anchorage hosts the webpage

, where you can find local nonprofits looking for volunteers, or even set up a profile to get alerted when an opportunity opens up.

For the holiday season, the Salvation Army is still seeking volunteers and donors for its annual Neighborhood GIFT program.

If you'd like to help volunteer, either sorting toys and food before the annual event, or during the event itself, which takes place December 13 and 14,

Or, if you'd rather donate money, you can do so through the Salvation Army website.

A local public relations firm is also hosting a food drive for The Children's Lunchbox, to help families in need over their holiday break.

To donate, you can take items to the company's office at 600 Barrow Street from 10 a.m. to noon on December 1 and 8, or from 3 to 5 p.m. on Thursday, December 15th.
