Alaska’s healthcare sector is expected to grow by over 10% by 2032, according to the Alaska Dept. of Labor and Workforce Development. Recognizing the need for more healthcare providers in the state, the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) has been working to recruit new students into the field.
Parents in the Anchorage School District are getting a preview of what the next round of school closures will look like at a series of informational meetings this week.
The three meetings will take place Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, at Bettye Davis East, Chugiak High School, and the ASD Education Center respectively. Wednesday and Thursday run 6-8 and Friday’s meeting runs noon-2 p.m.
“For example, in 2023, Alaska’s violent crime rate was 728 per 100,000 compared to 364 per 100,000 in the United States. In 2023, Alaska had the sixth-highest rate of violent crime in the country,” reads the FBI report.
