Iron Dog race officials posted to their Facebook page Thursday afternoon that teams will now leave Nome 4:00 a.m. Friday.
Additionally, layovers for the second half of the trail have been adjusted. The race is still scheduled to finish on Saturday in Fairbanks
Teams will now have a fixed eight hour layover and a flexible six hour layover that can be taken at any checkpoint from Nome to Manley.
“The flexible layover can be combined with the fixed layover for a 14-hour layover, or they can be taken separately,” wrote Iron Dog in a Facebook post.
The race says with these adjustments they expect to see a 2018 champion by 10:00 a.m. on Saturday in Fairbanks.
