Anchorage's Mike Mitchell and his dog Chance have walked the circumference of the earth — 24,901 miles — over the past eight years. In the process, Mitchell said Chance helped get his life back on track after a long battle with Hepatitis C.
The Big 8 was actually the Big 9 this year with Kodiak joining Dimond, West, South, Service, Bartlett, East, Chugiak and Eagle River High Schools for the 5-kilometer cross country race at Kincaid Park.
Instead of playing in a game that would be nationally streamed and televised, the Knik Little League All Stars were forced to pull out of the U.S. North West Regional tournament due to a positive COVID-19 test for one of their players.
The Alaska Boxing Academy held the “Boxing is Back” event outside of their gym on 135 W. Dimond Blvd. Boxers from all age groups came to show off their skills for their parents and anybody that happened to stop by the outdoor ring.
Today was the grand opening of the new Hilltop Bike Park with a series of three trails a pump track and jump line. The ski area also utilizing the ski lift to bring riders and their bikes to the top of the trail.
