Over 1 million acres burned in wildfires this summer

On July 1, part of the Alaska-Canada Highway in Canada was destroyed after a wash out at the 898 km marker on the British Columbia side of the border.

The festivities kicked off Monday morning featuring a parade circling downtown that had a variety of different floats painting an image of the diverse Anchorage community. Some of the floats included pageant participants, veterans, vintage vehicles and different cultural groups represented in the community.
