The Alaska Humane Society’s Adopt-a-Cat Shelter in Anchorage currently has about 100 cats available for adoption. They have had up to almost 500 cats at their peak. The no-kill shelter is a safe and loving place run by volunteers, who clean and do cat adoptions because they simply love animals — felines in general. The Humane Society, started back in 1988, has adopted out thousands of cats since its inception and will keep cats that don’t get adopted for the duration of their life if needed.
