Town hall held on proposal to turn Arctic Rec Center into homeless shelter

Itzel Toscano, Juan Toscano’s younger sister said Friday the family is grateful for the support and help they’ve received looking for their loved one. She said she wished the official search would continue although the family intended to keep looking and asked anyone who is able to help to do so.

Officials are seeking information related to the shooting of seven sea lions in Cordova last month.

The future of the five proposed sanctioned campsites throughout Anchorage is uncertain at best. Anchorage Assembly members met with some of the Sanctioned Camp Task Force during a work session on Friday to discuss the current options. But some Assembly members criticized the proposal for moving too quickly and not having a secured budget in place. Now some locations may be taken off the list altogether.
