Earlier this year, an anonymous donor gave $20,000 to Dr. Etheldra Davis Fairview Elementary with one stipulation, the money had to be used to buy every kid a new pair of winter boots. 6th Avenue Outfitters Co-Op was chosen to purchase the boots. They came out to the school and measured ALL the students’ feet. Each student was then given their own pair of new boots … a half-size larger! And, the total cost of providing footwear for the 400 students came to $28,000. So, 6th Avenue Outfitters Co-Op discounted the boots so all the kids could get a pair. Between the anonymous donor and a community business, over 400 kids in need got some winter boots they can grow into, winter boots they would have otherwise never had.
