Pilot killed in plane crash south of McGrath
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - A 58-year-old Anchorage resident was killed in a plane crash Saturday morning south of McGrath, Alaska State Troopers said.
Troopers said Cary Foster was the only person aboard the plane and was found dead at the wreck site.
Wildlife Troopers were made aware of a plane crash 60 miles south of McGrath at about 9:51 a.m. Poor weather prevented troopers from making it to the crash site, AST said.
A helicopter was later dispatched to the crash site where Foster, the sole occupant, was found with the Piper PA-18 Supercub.
The State Medical Examiner’s Office has Foster’s body. The National Transportation Safety Board is on scene with troopers, Clint Johnson, chief of the NTSB’s Alaska Regional Office, said.
