Matanuska River flooding: Crew works on ‘emergency protective measures’

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - The Matanuska River flooded over the weekend, causing damage to properties, power lines and the bike path in the area of Maud Road, according to the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.

People were able to drive on the Old Glenn Highway as usual, according to the borough. However, people are being asked to avoid the bike path between mileposts 13 and 15.

A borough statement said a Department of Transportation contractor was working on emergency preventative measures between the river and highway on Sunday.
