AOTW: Tanalian spiker hammers Port Alsworth to yet another Mix Six volleyball title

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Another year, another championship.

That’s been the mindset coming out of Port Alsworth’s Mix Six volleyball lineup over the last half decade, and once again, the Tanalian School program has another to celebrate — courtesy, in large part, to Eric McGee.

The junior spiker came up huge in the title match featuring the Lynx vs. Martin L. Olson School in Golovin. The final set alone saw McGee turn a 26-26 deadlock into victory, knocking back an spike attempt before closing out the bracket with an ace.

That performance led McGee’s Lynx to a 4-1 victory and his second Mix Six championship since joining the team.

“This one feels really good,” McGee said, “I think it’s our best season yet and I think we can only get better. I’m just proud of the whole team, this is the best team we’ve ever had.”

The victory marks Tanalian’s fourth trophy in the sport in five years. McGee was also named the game’s top hitter.
