ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Three teens were arrested Friday after police say they vandalized Mountain View Elementary School, causing enough damage to cancel class Friday for students, officials say.

Damage to “technology equipment” and broken glass left multiple classrooms unusable, according to district Chief of Staff MJ Thim, who did not specify what items were damaged.

The damage was enough that a lengthy cleanup was necessary before students could use them again.

An Anchorage police spokesperson confirmed that three teenagers were arrested, including two minors who were taken to McLaughlin Youth Center on charges of second-degree burglary, second-degree theft, and third-degree criminal mischief.

The third person, 18-year-old Raymond Carl, was arrested and charged as an adult for the same offenses, APD said. Carl was jailed at the Anchorage Correctional Center.

Anchorage police are investigating the scene.

“We are working to address the situation and ensure the building is ready to safely welcome students back,” ASD wrote to Mountain View parents. ”We understand this may be an inconvenience for families and appreciate your patience and understanding,”
