Emmy-nominated journalist Amber Jayanth joined WSMV4 in July 2025, bringing more than 15 years of breaking news and investigative experience to Middle Tennessee.

Amber comes to Nashville from FOX19 in Cincinnati, where she spent nine years as an anchor and reporter covering major stories that earned her two Emmy nominations. She led team coverage of the devastating 2016 Pigeon Forge wildfires and the tragic 2019 Dayton mass shooting that claimed nine lives.

At FOX19, she launched the station's 3:00 p.m. newscast and created "Breaking Through," a weekly feature celebrating women excelling in their careers.

Before Cincinnati, Jayanth spent five years at ABC22/FOX45 in Dayton, where she built her reputation covering breaking news including extensive coverage of Ohio's exotic animal law enforcement.

Her journalism career began with an internship at WGN Chicago, leading to her first TV position at KPLR in St. Louis as an associate producer and feature reporter. She later anchored and reported at WMDT in Maryland, where she earned two Associated Press Awards for in-depth homeless community coverage and one for her investigative series "Delmarva's Unsolved Crimes."

A St. Louis native, Jayanth earned her Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Media from the University of Central Missouri, where she created a tv show, "Campus Cribs," inspired by the popular MTV show. She later earned a Master of Arts in Media/Multimedia and Digital Communication from Lindenwood University.

When she's not chasing stories, Jayanth enjoys exploring Nashville's parks and restaurants with her husband and diving into thriller novels and movies.

"I'm excited to be part of the Nashville community and tell your stories," Jayanth said. "If you have a story idea you'd like to share, please reach out—I'd love to hear from you."
