WASILLA, Alaska (KTUU) - It’s another milestone for an 8-year-old boy in Wasilla. Paxson Schultz is finally returning to school over a year after a tree crushed him -- nearly losing his life. Paxson had been recovering from a traumatic brain injury and had to relearn how to walk and talk in therapy.

His mother -- Jodee Schultz -- says he’s back home and finally ready to start second grade.

“I’m so proud of how far he’s come and we’re super excited that he’s back in school.”

Paxson says he’s the most popular kid in school and is happy to see his friends. Paxson says he enjoys playing basketball in his wheelchair, even though he’s not the best at it. But he really thrives when playing with Legos.

“I made a Lego excavator and airplane and my Lego camper.” Paxson said.

And of course, before going back to school Paxson made the most of his summer.

“I caught a 10-pounder silver up in Seward... I mean my dad helped.”

Jodee says Paxson is continuing his recovery and still relies on his walker and a wheelchair.
