Police mobilized early Monday morning, after an employee at an Anchorage area gas station was allegedly stabbed multiple times by an assailant wielding a knife.

The disturbance began sometime before 3 a.m. on July 10, when a man was allegedly trespassing at the Chevron station on East 6th Avenue.

An employee of the station as well as a security guard asked the man, later identified as Ronald Vaska, 49, to leave the property. That's when, police said, Vaska drew a knife and tabbed the employee "in the neck, back and leg."

The victim was later taken to the hospital. Police called the wounds non-life threatening injuries, and also specified that the security guard involved in the incident was not harmed by the suspect.

In a community message, police said officers found Vaska "running from the area with a knife." They said he was located and arrested shortly after in an alley running between Hyder Street and Gambell Street.

Vaska was arrested on charges of first and third degree assault. He was taken to jail, where he is being held without bail, police said.
